Make it an easy and obtainable goal, such as: stop drinking sweet beverages and drink more water. Set your weight loss goals small, 3 pounds at a time. This will make an easy target to reach.
Don't eat late
The later you eat, the less time you have to digest the food and burn the calories. You are aiming for a calorie deficit - loose more calories than you eat. 3 or more hours before bed, stop all eating. Have a glass of low fat milk or fruit if you feel hungry.
Make daily chores into excercise
Mopping the floor can give you a great workout if you put gusto behind your work. Yard work and sweeping give arms and shoulders a great excercise. Aim to do the motions of your chores until you reach exhaustion. You've just put in a 30 workout and completed your house-work!
Switch to healthy snacks, if you must snack at all
Snacking is a habit. Somewhere along the line you picked up the need to munch on chips while doing mundane and boring tasks. Snacking at work is the most common example. Stop snacking. I know, it's going to be hard. Just keep in mind, you are not snacking because you're hungry. To ween yourself off of this habit, switch to carrot sticks as snacks until you feel safe enough to quit snacking cold turkey!
Eat only when hungry
It's 12 noon, but you didn't even notice until your friend just asked what you wanted to eat for lunch. If your not hungry, say so. Let as much people in your life know that you are dieting. They will support you. They'll even select restaurants that have lowfat food just for you! When you slip and order a cheeseburger, friends will give you the evil eye and scold you at every chance they get, just to keep you suffering and on track!
Your body is amazing. When it needs food, you will know. Hunger will stop you in your tracks. You will be surprised at how little food you actually need to get through the day if you eat only when you are hungry. By the way, if you are good at this principle, reward yourself when you do eat, and eat good food, healthy, but good.
Take up sports and activities you love to do
If you like the sport, you will most likely spend more time doing it. If the gym makes you feel miserable, don't go. Try all kinds of activities and sports to see which ones you like best.Try tennis, hiking, kayaking, biking, swimming, and yoga.
The key here is to make your excercise activity fun while you lose weight.
